The Expectations of a MESA Academy Player
6.18.2024

Choosing a soccer program comes with expectations. Parents invest in their children’s potential and hope to see them succeed. Players buy into a program, believing it will push them to the next step of their soccer journeys. These are the basic assumptions that players and parents go into when applying for a soccer academy. At Madrid Euro Soccer Academy (MESA), the expectations we set are based on seeing players for the individuals they are. Each one has different strengths, weaknesses, personalities, and goals, and we develop them with these in mind.

What We Provide For Our Players

MESA follows our own method of player development. The starting point is ensuring that our players become tactically sharp and technically skilled. Our ultimate goal is to develop complete modern players through a 360-degree player development model. Becoming a better soccer player is driven by improving as an individual.

We give our players the psychosocial tools needed to cope with challenges, the focus and discipline to follow schedules and programs, and proper nutrition and recovery to maintain their health. More than anything else, we believe in our players as individuals. Our coaches ensure their training is specialized to account for their strengths and weaknesses. We want to encourage their creativity and love for the sport. These are all things that will improve them as modern soccer players.

What We Expect Of Our Players

Our Academy is a high-performance environment that demands a lot out of our players. The results players see will depend on the effort and energy they invest. Just like our players have expectations of us, we have expectations for them:

  1. Talent and potential to compete at an elite level: Our players have to possess the talent needed to compete against elite players and teams. We believe in our ability to bring out the best in our players, so we need them to show us they can be the best version of themselves.

  2. Willingness to work hard, persevere, and sacrifice: The MESA program can be as long as a full season or as short as a few weeks. We need players who will make the most of the time and opportunity given to them through their desire to train, perform and compete at a high level.

  3. Discipline and responsibility to manage and own their personal program: Our players have to show ownership for their respective programs and manage their time and attention to the best of their abilities. It’s important that they can follow their schedules and put in their best efforts.

  4. Openness and ability to adapt and embrace new situations: The MESA program will give players the opportunity to play against and for other Spanish academy teams. Our players have to be open minded to the chance of training and playing with new players.

  5. Confidence and courage to seize and make the most of this extraordinary opportunity: MESA looks for players who believe in themselves and seize the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in front of them. MESA looks for players who believe in themselves and will make the most out of their time at the Academy.

  1. Desire and commitment to improve, perform, and achieve: Our players must possess a genuine want to develop their skills and the commitment needed to succeed against elite competition.

If our players can meet these expectations, then we will provide the environment, development program, and opportunities for them to develop as complete, modern players. Our program will put them in high-quality environments that will push them as athletes, but also help them keep up with their studies and school requirements. We will provide authentic immersion into the Spanish soccer culture, and give players the chance to play with and against great players and teams from Madrid, Spain. These are all crucial experiences that can launch players to the next level of their soccer journeys.
