Promising young soccer players have a challenging road ahead of them. There are numerous talented players vying for a chance to advance their soccer journeys, so standing out becomes harder and harder with each year. This is where Madrid Euro Soccer Academy (MESA) steps in. Through us, players have a path that drills in them the best aspects of Spanish soccer. Everything that makes Spanish soccer the best in the world is what we use to guide our players.
We are only able to do this through our coaches. With them leading the academy, we are able to build a culture and philosophy that nurtures the growth of players. Their expertise gives us the ability to guide players to be more complete, both as athletes and individuals.
The Philosophy of MESA Coaching
The coaching philosophy of a soccer academy is what sets it apart from other soccer programs. MESA’s coaches follow 5 key pillars across the whole season:
Individuality - Our coaches adapt to all the different individual needs of our players. We expect that our players work towards improving their technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects. To help with this, our coaches evaluate each player at the start of a season and form specific goals. MESA training sessions are designed to address the collective needs of the group while also specifically addressing individual needs that players
Intensity - Each week is carefully planned to make sure that training sessions are intense. Our coaches have expertise on the Spanish method, so all of our practices are designed to sync with the rhythm, demands and intensity of games.
Quality over Quantity - It is important to us that our players receive feedback that can help them improve. To help in that, our coaches give players accurate feedback during the training sessions. The immediacy of the feedback allows our players to process and understand the coaching better.
Respect/Patience - MESA anchors its coaching philosophy on respect. Proper growth can only happen when players respect their coaches and vice versa. Once respect is established, players can absorb what their coaches tell them and coaches can be purposeful in their instruction.
Consistency - Our coaching never stops planning for our players. From the start of the season until the very last coaching session, our coaches are always tirelessly preparing. This ensures that training sessions drive home the philosophy, approach and goals of the Academy, the coaches and its players.

The culture of continuous improvement and competitiveness is part of the MESA Way. Every practice session with MESA coaches includes specific drills and methodologies to ensure constant competition. Most MESA drills recognize achievements of winning teams and have consequences for losing teams, which is a key part of the MESA methodology to maintain a high level of competition among players. This approach from our coaches drives competition and brings out the best in our players.
The DNA of our Coaching Staff
There are traits that MESA looks for in our coaches to make sure they fit in with our culture and our DNA. This is what makes a MESA coach unique. This is the perspective that guides them when training players. We can break down our DNA into eight traits: expertise in European football, passionate about total player development, certified by UEFA, consistent and intense, possesses a scientific background, forms deep connections with the players, experienced in professional and semi-professional environments, and has deep desire to excel and compete.
All of these combined forms a MESA coach. They are some of the most experienced and passionate coaches you will find in any soccer academy. Their knowledge and approach to the game allows players to develop completely. Their backgrounds and strengths, their ability to exhibit the DNA of MESA, these are the qualities needed for coaches to train players when they start. Our coaches are the foundation of MESA’s success. Through their efforts and hard work, our academy is able to develop players into better people and athletes.
