The 23/24 Season Recap
7.11.2024

Another successful Madrid Euro Soccer Academy (MESA) season is in the books. Our players went in hoping to improve and evolve as young players and people, and their time with us helped them do just that. Our focus was on developing tactically, technically, physically, and psychologically. We tailored programs with specific goals and phases equipped with all the tools the players would have needed to achieve these..

Players spent hours practicing and playing against other teams while working closely with the coaching staff. Outside of that, players worked hard in the gym, analyzed game performances, enhanced mental skills and followed recovery and nutrition protocols. The coaching staff provided them with individualized training programs based on their age, skill level, and performance data. This ensured that the training was specialized to the player’s abilities and goals.

At the start of the season, players got to set their own goals and the staff held monthly coaching sessions to update their progress against these goals. This really helped keep players motivated. Involvement with the other Spanish clubs’ games and practices also furthered the players’ development. It gave them a new environment to adapt to, as well as introducing them to a whole new level of development competition.

Success Factors For The Season

This season came with its fair share of challenges, but we, as an Academy, were able to overcome them by knowing how to adapt and staying focused. We were able to navigate through difficult moments of the season by always adapting to the circumstances and staying together as a team. Everyone put in the effort needed to adapt to any given situation.

On top of that, consistency was a key pillar throughout the year. Everyone in the Academy kept up with the daily routine. Player intensity, focus and effort was at a maximum. Our coaches stayed on top of their roles, making sure each individual MESA player had direction and trained to improve their skills. The consistency of the routine helped with the team’s morale by giving their days structure.

It is a positive thing that MESA encountered these challenges. By facing them, players and the Academy are able to grow and develop.

Highlights Of The Season

As a team, there were two major wins at the U-20 level. The first was against Pozuelo Academy, on their own field. While the score was 1-0 in our favor, it does not reflect how dominant MESA was during the game. The momentum was firmly behind our players. During Copa Santa Fe, we were able to pull ahead during a difficult match against Rayo Vallecano, a top team at this age level. With a final score of 2-1, the team secured a challenging away win against Rayo Vallecano.

All our players showcased their impressive soccer skills during these matches. Three of our players were able to compete in the Juveniles Nacional division, the second highest in their age group, and contributed significantly to their teams.

One player played the full 90 minutes against the Real Madrid U-19 team. A majority of our players were able to sign to Spanish teams for the upcoming season. This introduces them to a new level of competition.

As for the U-17 level, the team dominated Pozuelo Academy on their own field. The team even made it as far as the semi-finals of the Madrid Easter Cup. Despite the loss in the semis, MESA is incredibly proud of its players, who gave it their all during the whole tournament.

Standout mentions have to be three of our U-15 players being instrumental parts of their teams’ promotion to a higher division. For the upcoming season, three of our players will be signed to División de Honor teams, the second highest division in the U-15 category. This will give them the opportunity to regularly face the country’s best teams at this age group, Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid.

At the international level, a number of our players made their debuts for their country – one for the U15 Armenian National Team at the UEFA Development Tournament and another for the U17 Colombian National Team against South Africa.

The End Of A Successful Season

This was an outstanding season that promoted player growth and developed skills and discipline. There were many successes for our players, and we couldn’t be any prouder. Our players gave it their all against elite competition and came out of it as better individuals.

This season is evidence that we can nurture complete modern soccer players. Things look brighter and brighter for the players at Madrid Euro Soccer Academy, and we are excited to help them reach an even higher level next season.
